Relationship Issues
Note: We work with individuals, not couples. This page is about individual therapy for relationship patterns — not marriage counseling or couples therapy.
The way we relate to others is shaped long before we're conscious of it. Attachment patterns, family dynamics, early relationships — these become part of how we show up in friendships, partnerships, workplaces, and families. When those patterns stop serving us, or when relationships become a source of chronic pain, individual therapy can help.
What We Can Help With
- Patterns that repeat across different relationships
- Difficulty setting limits with others without guilt or anxiety
- Fear of abandonment, rejection, or not being enough
- Communication struggles — saying too much, too little, or the wrong thing at the wrong time
- Processing a significant loss — a breakup, estrangement, or grief over a relationship that wasn't what you needed
- Navigating difficult family dynamics
- Understanding how your history shapes your present relationships
Our Approach
Our therapists draw on attachment theory, relational therapy, and other evidence-based approaches to help you understand your own patterns and build healthier ways of connecting. Sometimes that means looking at where patterns started. Sometimes it means learning to communicate differently in the present. Often it's both.
Patricia Schuetz, LMFT, and Cori Bakazan, LPC, both have extensive experience with relationship issues.
